简介

1937年，日军入侵南京。战火纷飞，这座六朝古都沦为废墟，无数中国军民被困城内。国民革命军一支由德国训练的训练部队的残部，在李教官（佟大为饰）的指挥下，从一所教会学校救出了一群女学生。然而，李教官和他的部下却失去了离开南京的机会。幸存的学生们，包括淑娟（张心怡饰），在受雇收集一位神父遗骸的美国人约翰·米勒（克里斯蒂安·贝尔饰）的陪同下，返回了温彻斯特大教堂。与此同时，在南京，难民涌向安全区和教堂寻求庇护。十四名妓女强行进入教堂避难，其中有一位名叫于墨（倪妮饰），她精通英语，希望利用约翰的身份为她们提供更多保护。然而，教堂的围墙也无法阻挡日军的推进；里面的人面临着生死抉择……
